Debra Grubbs Artist / Colorist
|
Biography: Each one of us has his or her own way of capturing the external world.
Debra Grubbs began painting in watercolors while studying with Corey Staid in Andover,
Massachusetts as a teenager. She studied with a variety of other artists after moving to
California in the late 70's. While attending Las Positas College in Livermore, California, she
painted primarily in acrylics, receiving a more structured, formal training, eventually receiving
a Degree in Fine Arts, emphasis in painting. Debra was Director of Visual Arts for a program
called "FAME" for the Livermore Public School system before moving back to New England.
Over the years, she has received numerous prizes and awards at dozens of art shows, and
many of her paintings have been sold and are displayed at homes and businesses across
the country.
The WILDLIFE ART MAGAZINE featured Debra's work in it's section "Women Making Magic
with Unusual Media" highlighting her collages of Confetti Birch Forests, May/June 2005.
Recently, Debra's art was spotlighted on TV's "NEW HAMPSHIRE CHRONICLE" featuring the
Cultural Trolley Night in Manchester, NH.
Medium: Landscape oil painting using the subject of Birch Trees is how Debra celebrates our
visual paradise where we live here in New England. She likes to portray these trees in an
expressionistic color manner. Debra also works in many mediums including multi-media
collage and monotypes.
